Ground and Water Adjacent to Ararat Gold Extracting Plant in Disastrous Condition

The ground and water adjacent to Ararat Gold Extracting Plant are in disastrous condition. Under “On Toxicity of Ground, Plants and Irrigation Water Adjacent to Ararat Gold Extracting Plant” conclusion dated on 10 June 1999, the contamination of the ground adjacent to Ararat Gold Extracting Plant with arsenic and chromium exceeded MPC from 10 to 166 times. The concentration of arsenic, lead and copper in the irrigation water exceeded MPC 127, 100 and 40 times, respectively. Thus, the concentration of the arsenic in the irrigable waters of the giver area made up 127 μg/l, lead - 10μg/l, and copper – 400 μg/l. The concentration of chromium and arsenic in the ground made up 332 mg/kg.
