During the two months of preliminary investigation the investigators at Erebouni Criminal Investigation Department of RA Police triply changed the article of the charge filed to Mariam Sukhudyan, the activist of the youth green movement.
Reminder: the criminal case № 2105809 against Mariam Sukhudyan was initiated on the basis of the TV program on the 1st Public TV dated on 13 November 2008 where one of the pupils at Nubarashen Boarding School № 11 for mentally retarded children told about the sexual harassment by her teacher. At first Mariam Sukudyan was summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department as a witness. Then, on 11 August 2009 she was charged with libel in accordance with Article 135 of the Criminal Code of RA, on 15 August her charge was changed to “false crime reporting” according to Paragraph 3, Article 333 of the Criminal Code of RA. On 21 October the charge was changed back to libel.
In the interview with EcoLur Mariam Sukhudyan, she advised that she had been told in the investigation department that this article allows her to make use of the amnesty declared, thus the criminal investigation against her will be dropped.
As in all other cases Mariam Sukhudyan did not plead guilty and is going to appeal the charge in the court.
