The other day Head of National Seismic Protection of RA Alvaro Antonyan reported about possible seismic situation because of fluctuations in Lake Sevan level at the press conference. One has got the impression, that Mr. Antonyan attempts to hinder Lake Sevan level increase with non-scientific substantiations and actually doing some stakeholders' order...
If Lake Sevan level will reach 1903 m that is 13 m lower than its natural size, seismic risks are inevitable. Money spent on Lake Sevan level increase only by 4 meters is only a waste of money. Lake Sevan level must be increased up to its original 1916 m above the sea level to save Sevan, the strategic reserve of freshwater for the whole region, and to recover natural balance.
