“Naturally concern and anxiety should exist, but all the needed steps must be taken to make uranium development absolutely safe both for environment and population. If any digression happens, the works will certainly be stopped,” assured Ashot Martirosyan, the Chairman of RA State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee by the Government.
“If there turns out to be sufficient industrial reserves, the action plan will be drawn up to undergo international expertise. One of mandatory conditions will be compliance to international safety standards. The program will undergo expertise and international experts will give their consent to it and set conditions what kind of technologies must be applied in the process, a permanent control service will be acting on the spot, serious automated monitoring will be conducted in terms of radiation safety in order to have everything consistent with international standards,” Martirosyan said.
