Under Khoren Harutyunyan, Kapan Municipality Member and “Azatamart” Committee Chairman that is one of the pioneers launched fighting against uranium mines, it’s more than 10 days since the Aldermen’s Council has officially sent a call to the government, but still no reply.
Last month RA Energy and Natural Resources Deputy Minister Areg Galstyan said uranium reserves in Lernadzor may be scarce. If now other metals turn out to be abundant, “Armenian-Russian Mining Company” will, under this mask, start wide-scale uranium geological prospecting. “In that case we have no way out, just get united and evict prospectors from the territory. We must not permit them to gradually kill us,” Harutyunyan said.
