Yelpin villagers are concerned about water deprivation because of “Agaramik” Company invasion into the village that has launched geological prospecting, and they call on RA President Serzh Sargsyan for help. The letter says:
“Some people and organizations have invaded into “Kechout” Territory in the estuary in order to conduct geological prospecting. They have licenses issued by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. They invaded into our territory without the community’s consent and any agreement without taking into consideration the owners’ rights and violating the requirements laid down in the Land Code of RA (para. 1 (2-5) of Article 70, and para. 3 and 7 of Article 72”.
We would like to inform, still in Soviet period investigations were conducted in these territories and such elements were detected as uranium, radium, molybdenum and mercury.
Dear President, any land works to be conducted in this particular territory pose great danger to the existence of the village itself, and for other border villages as well.”
