What to change by moving plant chimney?

To improve the environmental poor condition in Alaverdi movement of the chimney of the copper plant owned by ''Armenia Copper Program'' to the nearby mountaintop of Koshaberd has started since May 15th, 2010.
The new smoke pipe, 20 m in height and 3 m in diameter, is already installed on the mountaintop of Koshaberd.
It is obvious, however, that the pipe will menace seriously to the forests spread down the nearby mountains of Koshaberd. According to the authors of the program moving of the chimney will decrease the excretions of the plant into the atmosphere of Alaverdi 10 times.
Reminder: 99.4 percent of the excretions of the plant producing 12 thousand tone copper per year is sulfur dioxide. As well as, 8.7 tonne arsenic, zinc, lead, copper, magnesium and other cancer materials are excreted from the smoke pipe per year.
In Samvel Bezhanyan’s opinion the smoke pipe will be exploited at the end of August. And Rubik Evoyan, worker in the area, thinks that Alverdi won’t be disposed of toxic emissions by moving the chimney. The latter thinks that Alaverdi will be disposed of it only when the stove of the foundry is reconstructed.
