On March 11, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Jermuk residents, who blocked the roads leading to Amulsar, within the framework of "Yes" campaign of the constitutional referendum. Below we present the dialogue between RA Prime Minister and Jermuk residents.
Resident: Where are we in regard to the conclusion of ELARD? ELARD has given a negative answer.
Nikol Pashinyan: It is not so. We learned from ELARD that risks are controllable. You interpret it differently. I suggest opening the roads. If you had opened the roads, nothing would have changed here. Nothing would have happened with Amulsar. Any mining is out of the question till November 2021.
Resident: The construction would be in progress. They come in secret. If we had opened, can you imagine what would have happened then?
Nikol Pashinyan: Then let the criminal case proceed normally. The problem for me is to sort out which one out of this 50/50 is correct, and we have to do all this on a factual basis.
Resident: Amulsar will remain a mountain.
Nikol Pashinyan: I'm a journalist by profession. Now, in order to understand whether my ideas are right or wrong, I need a professional, trustworthy conclusion, a reliable professional debate. I'm not a specialist, but when two experts sit and debate, I can figure out who's right and who's wrong. I've also spoken to ELARD and Lydian. We sat down opposite each other and talked to each other. To say what ELARD says is not argued is wrong.
But to say that Lydian's words are not argued is wrong again, because the risks that ELARD has presented, Lydian says, are in our plan. Lydian says there is nothing new in what ELARD says: we ourselves have predicted and planned these risks in steps 1,2,3,4.
Resident: Why did you give that much money to ELARD then?
Nikol Pashinyan: We gave so much money to go after the truth.
