International Conference on Nature Conservation Took Place in Armenia

Young Biologists Association organized Rufford Small Grants (RSG) Recipients conference on 27-30th of September 2012, in Armenia - Tsaghkadzor (General Sport Complex). RSG (http://www.ruffordsmallgrants.org/) provides funding for projects oriented to biodiversity research, conservation and environmental education. On behalf of the foundation more then 2000 nature conservation oriented projects have been funded in 130 countries and Armenia as well.
The welcome reception of the conference took place on 27th of September and representatives of Ministry of Nature Protection, environmental NGOs, international organisations, scientific institutions and other organizations participated on it: The special guests of the evening were Mr. Khachik Hakobyan, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Republic of Armenia and Mr. Josh Cole, Grants Director of RSG Foundation.
During the conference, the representatives of environmental organisations from Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Croatia, Georgia, Turkey and other countries presented their biodiversity research, conservation and education oriented RSG projects.
In the framework of the conference the round table discussion on «Cooperation and Communication in Conservation Actions» was held. Participants decided to establish the informational network, which will unite all interested environmental organisations on regional and international level. Participants had opportunity also to see the natural and historical spots, visiting “Dilijan” and “Sevan” National Parks.
Conference provided an opportunity for Armenian scientists and organisations to create new connections with colleagues from abroad, to share with successful experience in nature conservation activities etc.
