Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan expressed his concern with the illegal construction works in the closed market, Yerevan. “It’s impermissible that the historical monument in Yerevan is exposed to modifications and no competent body reacted to such unlawful actions,” says the statement of Human Rights Defender’s Office. The statement on this issue has been sent to Yerevan Municipality, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Urban Development and Public Prosecutor’s Office with a demand to stop the illegal construction. All the bodies replied that the construction doesn’t have any legal grounds. Nevertheless, on 7 May the residents living next to the Closed market again said that the construction works had re-launched
