Tree Felling in Mashtots Avenue in Yerevan

Today EcoLur has received an alarm signal from a Yerevan resident, who says that the mulberry tree located near 'Zigzag' store in Mashtots Avenue has been cut down. As the resident is sure the tree has been cut down by 'Zigzag' store employees. 'It was a young tree: last year they pruned off its branches, now they cut it down completely. In reply to my question why they cut off the tree, they said it was disturbing. Now can see only cars all around us.' 

EcoLur is addressing this alarm signal to Nature Protection Ministry and Yerevan Municipality.

It should be mentioned that today, at the meeting in Yerevan Municipality, Mayor Taron Margaryan covered the problem of illegal tree felling in Yerevan and particularly said, 'It's still unclear for some of you that illegal tree felling is impermissible and should be condemned. Please, cover the impermissibility of such phenomena more often and remind of the liability that an illegal tree cutter will bear.'
