Government Adapts its Actions for Preparing to Paris Meeting on Climate Change

The government made  an amendment to its Decree (#1594, dated on 10 November 2011) on approving the list of measures aimed at performing obligations undertaken by international environmental conventions (16.04.2015). The amendments are conditions for preparation to the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC to take place in Paris, which will be held in December 2015. We have strict time frame to clarify how to participate in the global process, which had already launched in Lima in 2014.

The amendment directly refers to the INDC document, including adaptation measures with ecosystem approach.

The countries  shall prapre the document on Intended Nationally Determined Contributions due to the relevant opportunities of each country. Besides, the countries shall sign a common agreement restricting green house gas emissions, i.e. reducing the increase of global temperature within 2 degrees Celsius, as compared to the post-industrial period. It is considered the funding to combat climate change. Thus Green Fund is established: 10.2 billion USD investments have already been attracted.

The “EcoLur” Informational NGO is organizing series of events aimed at public involvement  and awareness raising targeted to the future climate change policy directions and development of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) of the Republic of Armenia under UN Climate Change Framework Convention (UNFCCC).
