World Environment Day and Day of Environmentalist Celebrated at Museum of Nature (Photos)


On 5 June World Environment Day and Day of Environmentalist was celebrated at the State Museum of Nature attended by the representatives of RA Nature Protection Ministry, NGOs and international organizations. Exhibition of exotic animals was organized by 'Exotarium Amazon' Company and the exhibition of chalk pictures by 'Zatik' Yerevan Child Assistance Center and Shengavit Youth Creative Center and a photo exhibition.

The slogan of 2017 is 'With Nature': 'This slogan is not arbitrary, first of all, it assumes harmony with nature. The main laws of nature, which shall become guidelines and rules for each are often violated. In case of non-renewable resources, our main goal shall be the reduction of their use,' RA Nature Protection Minister Artsvik Minasyan said in his speech.
Dmitry Mariyasin, UNDP Resident Representative a.i. in Armenia, attached much importance to the devotion and work of Armenia, which is carried out in the frames of Paris Climate Convention and noted, 'Here more focus is put on urban population: by 2050 2.5 billion population will resettle from rural areas to urban areas, which will make the urban population denser and will generate its risks. We don't speak about future any longer, from today we shall take care and live with nature in harmony.'

WWF Armenia Cooperation and Public Relations Office Head Hermine Hakobyan presented the map of landfill sites in Armenia, which had been drawn up in the frames of 'Clean Armenia' project. During this event Minister Artsvik Minasyan granted certificates of gratitude to a number of ministry employees.
