Let's Save Electricity and Pay Less to Monopolists

On the background of probable increase in electricity price it's needed to take care of the economy. Europe's concerns reached us in the form of different programs on energy efficiency. One of these programs is launching now, where 28 streets in Yerevan will have energy-efficient lightning with special bulbs and laying underground cables, replacing posts etc. The agreement on the project implementation was approved by the Armenian Government on 25 June. The funding is provided by the European Reconstruction and Development in the form of a loan of 4 million USD, as well as in the form of a grant of 2 million USD provided by ESP. Another program on energy efficiency is implemented in detention facilities – “Nubarashen”, “Sevan”, “Kosh”, “Artik”, “Vanadzor”, “Hospital for Prisoners”, “Vardashen”, “Hrazdan”, “Abovyan” and “Erebuni” by R2E2 Renewable Energy Fund. It’s expected that electricity expenses will be reduced by 40% as a result of energy efficiency implementation.
