At the end of 2014 large negative balance of Lake Sevan will be recorded. “During spring floods the level of Lake Sevan is increased, on average, by 45 cm. This year we had an increase of 25 cm only. For comparison, we would like to mention that we had an increase of 40 cm in 2013. What about forecasting of Lake Sevan level at the end of the year, it should be mentioned that we are forecasting to have a negative balance of 9-12 cm on 1 January taking into consideration weather condition forecasts, river flow forecasts,” said Levon Azizyan, Head of Hydrology Center of Hydromet Service of the Ministry for Emergency States, at the press conference held at EcoLur Press Club.

Taking into consideration that 270 cum was let out of Lake Sevan instead of 170 cum in 2014 we can record that the level of Lake Sevan will be decreased by 12 cm. Reminder: in 2012 when 317 million cum water was let out of Lake Sevan, the level of Lake Sevan decreased by 3 cm.
