In 2014 20-25 acts were drawn up for illegal forest felling in Sevqar Forestry Enterprise, as Sevqar Forestry Enterprise Chief Forestry Officer Mushegh Madatyan said in his interview with EcoLur. He mentioned that the volume of illegal felling reduced as compared with the 90’s. Sevqar Forestry Enterprise Director Ashot Yeritsyan said that the main problem they experience is connected with forest preservation, as the social state of the communities is poor. Sevqar Forestry Enterprise has a permission to cut down 3300 cum firewood, as well as each family in the neighboring 13 communities has a right to be granted 8 cum firewood. The question is whether 8 cum of firewood or 3300 cum firewood will be enough for the heating of the residents of 13 community residents or whether they will again break in the forest? 23 forestry officers guard Sevqar Forestry Enterprise, each of whom guard from 5000 to 7000 ha area from the total of 21000 ha area.
