Armenia is celebrating Earth Hour 2012. Earth Hour is a global call to action when people worldwide switched off their lights for one hour only for the sake of preserving the resources of our planet. Since 2007 this environmental event has been held in Sydney (Australia), when 3 million people switched off their light. Gradually, the number of people desiring to take part in the Earth Hour reached 1 billion people.
Armenia doesn’t fall behind from those wishing to take part in the Earth Hour. In 2012 WWF-Armenia together with Nature Protection Ministry and Yerevan Municipality decided to hold the Earth Hour 2012 in three towns, Yerevan, Vanadzor and Kapan. On 31 March, from 20:30 to 21:30, everybody wishing to take part in this action should switch off their lights for one hour. At this time you can get convinced personally, how our residents respond to world events.
