Annual Damage from Landslips in Armenia Assessed US $10 million

From 1990 to 2005 Armenia lost about 6300 ha of forest, which resulted in significant increase in mud flows and landslips. Under “Action Plan of National Strategy on Reducing Risks of Catastrophes”, 1/3 of the Armenian territory in landslip zone. About 470,000 people or 15% of the country’s population is exposed to these risks. Annual damage from landslips is estimated in amount of US million.
