The household paints sold in the Armenian market will undergo laboratory expertise to find out the extent of lead concentration in them: this decision has been reached by Market Supervision Inspection Body of Ministry for Economic Development and Investments during their meeting with the public sector.

In 2016 'Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment' NGO carried out research, which showed that the concentration of lead in the paints exceeds the permissible limit, 0.5%, 1500 times. Even minimum excess of lead concentration in the blood leads to the reduction of children's mental development coefficient, deterioration of knowledge acquisition, impacts immune and reproduction systems, causes low blood and high blood pressure,' Qnarik Grigoryan, the expert of 'Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment' NGO, told EcoLur. The expert mentioned that Market Supervision Inspection Body had promised to take all the measures to solve this problem, in case this alarm signal is proved.
