To the Chairman of Scientific-Expert Committee of Recovering Lake Sevan Ecosystem, Chairman of Committee on Lake Sevan Problems of Armenia
Mr. Vladimir Movsisyan,
Dear Mr. Vladimir Movsisyan,
On 6 June 2012 during the meeting at Ministry of Territorial Administration of Armenia, State Committee on Water Industry expressed its intention to make a proposal to increase water outlets from Lake Sevan up to 320 million cubic meters for irrigation purposes motivating this with the decrease in the water reserves in reservoirs as compared with that of the recent years.
Taking into consideration high risks for the ecosystem of Lake Sevan connected with disturbing continuous increase on lake level and its drastic fluctuations, we would like to ask You and the committees headed by You to express your expert opinion in this regard. We would like to ask you to substantiate the answer in accordance with RA Law 'On Approving Annual Action Plan for Preservation, Recovery and Use of Lake Sevan Ecosystem', which lays down the maximum volume for outlets – 170 million cubic meters.
