Armenian Government to Have Only Three New Ministers

The Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan has approved the new government: as it was expected the cabinet didn’t suffer any significant changes. New appointments are Sport Minister and Youth Affairs – Yuri Vardanyan, Minister of Finance – David Sargsyan and Minister of Economy Vahram Avanseyan. The ministers kept their posts: Minister of Nature Protection – Aram Harutyunyan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources – Armen Movsisyan, Minister of Education and Science– Armen Ashotyan, Minister of Culture – Hasmik Poghosyan, Minister of Diaspora – Hranush Hakobyan, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs – Artem Asatryan, Minister of Health – Derenik Dumanyan, Minister of Justice – Hrayr Tovmasyan, Minister of Urban Development – Samvel Tadevosyan, Minister of Agriculture – Sergo Karapetyan, Minister of Emergency Situations – Armen Yeritsyan, Minister of Transport and Communication – Minister Gagik Beglaryan, Minister of Territorial Administration, and with another decree, Deputy Prime Minister – Armen Gevorgyan.

 In addition, President Sargsyan relieved Yuri Vardanyan of his duties as Presidential Adviser and appointed him as Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs. Davit Sargsyan is relieved of his duties as Government Chief of Staff and appointed Minister of Finance. Acting Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan, on the other hand, is appointed Government Chief of Staff.

 Earlier, Serzh Sargsyan had appointed Seyran Ohanyan as Minister of Defense, and Edward Nalbandian, as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The composition of the Cabinet was discussed at the meeting of the Executive Committee and the Boards of the party in power, Republican Party of Armenia. The new government has been formed based on the results of the presidential elections held on 18 February.
