The murder of military doctor Vahe Avetyan in Harsnaqar restaurant by bodyguards caused tension of civic and political activity. On 30 June and 1 July mass protest demonstrations took place in front of presidential seat, government building, and Harsnaqar restaurant. The public filed allegations to the authorities that the atmosphere of unlawfulness reigns in the country, which panders the governing authority and law enforcement bodies. Among political parties are Armenian National Congress, “Heritage” Faction and Armenian Revolutionary Federation. Public initiatives were united by “Sardarapat” movement, right defenders, “green activists” and ordinary citizens.
The main demand is that Ruben Hayrapetyan, owner of Harsnaqar Restaurant Complex, National Assembly Deputy from Republican Party shared responsibility for what has occurred.
Reminder: An incident occurred at the restaurant on June 17, where several military doctors including Edgar Mikoyan, Arkadi Aghajanyan, Garik Soghomonyan, Artak Bayadyan and Vahe Avetyan were brutally beaten by the restaurant employees. Vahe Avetyan died because of injuries on 29 June.
