What Are Priority Measures in Environment, Soil Management, Energy and Other Sectors In New Governmental Programme

On 20 October 2016 the National assembly will convene an extraordinary meeting with the agenda to approve the governmental programme. We are presenting the activities to be carried out by the government in environment, tourism, soil management, energy, management of water resources, forest sector, disaster management.
Environment
• Continuous recovery and preservation of environmental balance of Lake Sevan in line with legislative regulations In six months a) Approval of water basin management plants for Akhuryan and in three years those of Sevan, Hrazdan and Northern water basin areas, b) Development of legislation regulating water discharge and wastewater removal process, c) Ratification of Paris agreement, development of measures aimed at climate change adaptability and conducting works to ensure limitation of increase in greenhouse gas emissions, d) Approval of “Dilijan” National Park Management Plan
• Development of approaches to environmental education and upbringing within one year In 2017 a) establishment of new legislative basis for environmental policy, b) development of concept paper for introduction of green economy principles and formation of a national center for green economy, c) introduction of automatic management resources of water resources of fish farms in at least 20 spots in Ararat Valley, Within three years: a) Introduction of management system of reclaiming fund, b) Formation of unified environmental information system via up-to-date information technologies and enhancement of environmental control and surveillance systems, c) Expansion of strictly preserves areas of nature (“Jermuk” national park, Ijevan Forest Reserve, “Loru Ltcher” protected landscape etc.) and improvement of their management systems, d) Introduction of system to prevent illegal forest felling with the application of newest technologies, e) Establishment of a national center for biodiversity conservation and environmental education based on Botanical Garden in Yerevan City.
Tourism
Initiation of contests to make at least 5 caves tourism destinations,
Works in forest sector
Within three months Development of concept of forest sector reforms directed at the preservation, protection, recovery and use of forests. In 2017 a) Expansion of reforestation and afforestation works.
