Due to the fires, Russia is losing forests with huge territories.
“AviaLesOkhrana” has published information on the forest fires in Russia as of August 13. According to an official source, 49 forest fires have been neutralized over 5 998 hectares over the recent days. As of August 13, there were 159 forest fires in Russia. A total of 266 393 hectares were caught on fire.
Specially protected nature areas have also come under fire.
3885 people, 472 equipment, 43 aircrafts were monitored, and 27 others were involved in firefighting activities.
A state of emergency has been introduced throughout the Irkutsk region, in the Sacha-Yakutia region, in the Krasnoyarsk region and in the three regions of the Republic of Buryatia.
