“ATP” Charity Fund has founded 32.4 ha of forest in Lori Region by planting 128,000 trees in the frames of “Armenian Tree Planting” program. As SEEDS program manager Vardan Melikyan said during the media tour organized by “ATP” Charity Fund on 17 June it had founded “Hrant Dink” pine forest in Fioletovo Community, Lori Region, and planted 50,000 trees in the territory of 11 ha and “Katnajur Forest” in Katnajur community in the territory of 21.4 ha by planting over 78,000 trees.
The seedlings for ATP’s reforestation programs were grown in the John and Artemis Mirak Nursery in Margahovit Village, Lori Region, with a territory of 5 ha founded in 2007 by “ATP” Charity Fund.
Under Vardan Meliqyan, they are trying to grow endangered species. “Now we have high-mountainous maple, which is not recorded in the Red Book, but it’s under the verge of extinction. We also have service tree, which is also among endangered species,” Vardan Meliqyan said and added, “Our mission is to help the sustainable development of Armenia through environmental program. We have three sections: environmental education, community tree planting and reforestation and we week to help Armenian development in these three directions.”
“ATP” was founded in 1994 and so far it has planted over 3.500.000 in 800 places of Armenia.
