Making Strict Preservation Measures at Dilijan National Park Caused People's Complaint

On 18 September the residents of Haghartsin community, Tavush Region, blocked the Haghartsin section of Ijevan-Yerevan highway demanding to allow them to collect dry wood from Dilijan National Park, as they have no other means for heating. The newly appointed director Sahak Muradyan banned the villagers to enter “Dilijan” National Park.

As NEWS.am informs, Tavush Regional prosecutor and police head talked to the villagrs having blocked the road, who persuaded the villagers to open the road provided that the Regional Head will speak with Nature Protection Minister and the villagers will be given permission to feel down trees from the village.

 Reminder: From 02.09.2014 to 12.09.2014 “Dilijan” National Park SNCO employees detected cases of illegal forest felling. Seven protocols were drawn on illegal transportation 27 trees and 4 cum timber from the forest.
