According to the police, 83-year-old Qnarik A., Spitak town resident (Lori region) is accused of having a Varuozhan M. tree fallen down. The abovementioned Varouzhan M. cut down a willow tree, which as the statement says, “didn’t belong to the forest fund, but belonged to Spitak community and grew on the bank of Pambak River. The cut down tree has been confiscated, the investigation is in progress.”

This statement could be perceived as an irony on the background of occurring mass tree felling. Industrial timber is taken away from forestry enterprises without any obstacles at nights. The timber is taken away by cars for forest business and not for personal use. According to the studies of independent ICARE organization, the factual range of illegal tree felling in Armenia exceeds the officially recorded volume by at least 70 times.
