State Monitoring of Forests Board Meeting Held Coordinating Fight against Illegal Forest Felling in Armenia

On 27 January the board meeting of State Monitoring of Forests, which coordinates the fight against illegal forest felling in Armenia, was held headed by Armen Gevorgyan, Deputy PM and Minister of Territorial Administration of Armenia.
The examinations held in the sections of “ArmForest” SNCO, specially protected territories, as well as territories of general use outside forest sector, resulted in drawing up 263 acts on illegal felling of 3126 trees. Board member-NGO representatives outlined that the violations have been detected with the companies developing Teghout and Qajaran mines. Deputy Prime Minister assigned the representatives of the departments in question to examine the facts on the spot.
