On 13 July, the Amulsar protectors didn’t allow the investigator of RA Criminal Committee and the experts invited within the frames of the criminal case instigated based on the fact of illegal soil management in Amulsar to enter the area of Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mine. As the Amulsar protectors informed EcoLur, they hadn’t been informed about the aim of this visit. According to the eye witnesses, the policemen behaved in a rude manner. The Amulsar protectors were resented with the fact that among the visitors were the representatives of “Lydian Armenia” company and that the findings of the international expert assessment haven’t been publicized so far. Two locals had been detained who later were released.

At this moment, the policemen, investigator and experts have left, and the Amulsar is again under the control of the locals.

Gndevaz resident Tehmine Yenoqyan told EcoLur that the Amulsar protectors expressed their perplexity to the investigator why the statement of RA Environmental and Mining Inspection on illegal soil management in Amulsar didn’t serve as a ground for the investigation and only now it has been decided to carry out an investigation.

Earlier, on 12 July, the Amulsar protectors and the Armenian Environmental Front civic initiative disseminated an announcement which said the experts won’t be allowed to enter the mine area.
