On 15 February an announcement was displayed on the official website of Nature Protection Ministry on holding public hearings on Ardanish mine development project submitted by “Mica-Cement” CJSC in Ardanish Village on 22 February. As it turned out that the project couldn’t be found at the hearings either in the village or with the environmental expertise representative or “Mika-Cement” company representative. And only on 11 March “Ardanish Mine of Marl Limestone” project was displayed on the ministry website.

“...The territory of the pit makes up 14.6 ha, the reserves account for 5,250,000 tons. The extracted ore is 4,995,400 tons...Out of fauna we can meet rabbit, fox, wolf, viper, rock lizard, and common rat...As a result of insignificant use of the surface, no damage is caused to the fauna…Vegetation is poor…18 people will be secured with work…"

The description doesn’t say a word that the pit is developed near the shores of Lake Sevan, immediately near the reserve zone of Ardanish peninsula. By the way, “Sevan” national park representative also didn’t take part in the public hearings.
