Government Dragging Out Qajaran Village Issue

The government is dragging out the issue with Qajaran Village in regard with government decision 627 on seizing 181.7 ha of land areas in favour of Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine. On “Heritage” Faction demand, a meeting was held with “Heritage” representatives at Energy and Natural Resources Minister’s office on 2 February. According to the official website of the ministry, an agreement was reached to continue the discussions, and if needed, to leave for Qajaran Village and hold discussions there. 

After active public intervention, the governmental working group visited the village in December 2011. Group leader and Territorial Administration Deputy Minister Artashes Bakhshyan promised the problem will be given solution taking into consideration villagers’ opinion.
