The protest demonstration against Shekaghbyur gold-polymetallic mining project is continuing in Mghart Village, Lori Region. The protesters don’t allow the representatives of Miram Company and Nature Protection Ministry to enter the building of the village municipality, where the second public hearings of Shekaghbyur gold-polymetallic mining project were to be held.
Ardvi, Mghart, Odzun, Aygehat, Arevatsag residents have blocked the road running to Mghart, but the company and Nature Protection Ministry representatives got into the village in another way. The protesters moved to the building of the village municipality, where they blocked the entrance.
Nature Protection Ministry experts Karine Movsisyan and Zaruhi Zurnachyan approached the residents and proposed to speak and discuss the project, but they were rejected.
Miram Company geologist tried to speak to the residents, but they residents also rejected him saying “go away”.
There was a clash between the residents and ex community head in Mghart Yervand Navasardyan, who gave his initial agreement to Shekaghbyur project during the first public hearings.
