Hrazdan iron ore mine will undergo a new ecological estimation in the context of the amended legislation, Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan told the journalists on Monday. Chinese Fortune Oil Company has the right for the exploitation of the mine.
The company has to run new ecological expertise and submit it to the Ministry after the law on estimation of the influence on environment was amended.
“We have come to an agreement with the company. Besides, we will take into account the opinion of the local communities,” the Minister said.
Armenia’s iron ore deposits are estimated at 100 million tons as of late 2011. Meantime, the deposits are found in Hrazdan, Abovyan and Svarants mines which are yet to be exploited.
