'Multi Group Concern' Intends to Double Mghart Mining Volumes: Mghart Residents Not Against

'Multi Group Concern' intends to double Mghart mining volumes making them annually 100,000 tons from 50,000 tons. On 31 January public discussions were held at Odzun Rural Municipality in Lori Region, where Mghart residents gave their agreement, as Odzun Community Head Arsen Titanyan said in his interview with EcoLur.

'This project is designed for 20 years, no territorial expansion is planned, mining capacity will be doubled making it annually 100,000 tons from 50,000 tons. They will work in their land areas and mine ore from deeper horizons. There was no word about the expansion of land areas,' Arsen Titanyan said. In reply to the questions what kind of social programs are proposed for the village, Titanyan said, 'We should be active in this regards and try to involve them. I have proposed them to lay water pipelines for Mghart and they gave their agreement.'

In 2005-2008 the approved reserves for Mghart are  - C2  ore reserves – 1019.8 thousand tons, gold -  3845.3 kg, silver 4534.7kg, P1 forecast resource ores -  1654.0 thousand tons, gold - 5240.3 kg.

'Multi Group Concern' has started developing Mghart gold and silver mine in an opencast manner since 2005.
