On 14 May, “ASSAT” LLC held public hearings in Qaraberd Village, where the program of developing the central part of Qaraberd gold mine was submitted for hearings.
“ASSAT” LLC Director A. Osikyan presented the project and informed that the ore will be conveyed to Ararat gold extracting plant. The work will be conducted both in closed and opencast manner within 3 years. The annual income of Qaraberd village will increase by 1,200,000 AMD in the form of taxes and another 1,000,000 million AMD will be provided in the form of social programs. Village head G. Shavelyan positively assessed this initiative.
In reply to Vanadzor Aarhus Center, the company informed that 1) there are no landslip processes in the territory of the future mine, 2) explosions will be carried out in a distance of 4 km from the community and won’t have any negative impact, 3) there are no forests in the territory of open mine, 4) when it comes to public participation, they said the hearings will also be held in Vanadzor and Yerevan.
