The Government of the Republic of Armenia tends to recultivate more than 100 illegally developed or abandoned mines. In order to create financial incentives, the executive approved “On Making Amendments to RA Code on Subsoil” draft law on July 2, 2015.
In the case of approving the bill by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Natural Protection will be able to use some part of the funds in the amount of 900 million AMD of paid to the State Treasury by the soil developers in order to recultivate abandoned and illegally developed mines. The funds haven’t been used since 2005.
