Energy and Natural Resources Ministry issued a license for geological prospecting in Tavush region. We speak about Aghetkin copper and molybdenum mine and Kanchalaqar copper mine. The licenses have been issued to “Mik Metal” CJSC.

Chairman of Greens Union of Armenia Hakob Sanasaryan insists that the geoprospecting has been carried out in the territory between Noyemberyan and Lori, while geologists dealing with the mine prospecting live for some time in Shnogh Village. “I spoke with forestry officers and it turned out that this is densely inhabited territory…Two months ago I raised this issue when the government discussed the problem of forests and PM Tigran Sargsyan promised that the issue will be put for discussion, if these territories are proved to be forests…This mine was explored during the Soviet times and, as a matter of fact, the carried out prospecting is an imitation. The state should itself explore its reserves at its own funds, then to solve whether or not to pass them to others. At present the license is issued for the prospecting together with the license for development. This is just  impermissible,” said Chairman of Greens Union.
