ZCMC Tailing Pipe Breakdown Cost Company Cost Company 294,000 AMD
The breakdown of the ZCMC (Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine) tailing pipe occurred on 20 August resulted in causing damage of 294,000 AMD to water resources.
“Around 38 tons of ore has been recorded as a result of comparing analytic researches of the sampling taken from the Voghji River and computation of leak volumes from the tailing pipe, out of which around 28 tons has been poured into open basin.” This is what the official website of Nature Protection Ministry informs.
Reminder: due to the breakdown at combine tailing pipe, the Voghji River flowing in Kapan town, regional center of Syunik, was grey all the time and it stank.
According to the official information, ZCMC has already transferred 294,000 AMD to the state budget, as well as the company was given assignments on performing environmental legislation requirement and eliminating probable violations, particularly to take measures to exclude most probable ore leakage into environment.
