“Uranium Mine Developed at Nights” Say Lernadzor Villagers, Syunik Region

“The mine is in front of my house. They work at night, so as nobody could see. They lie when they say the mine won’t be developed,” said Rima Grandma, a Lernadzor villager, and mentioned that old villagers have already got used to this situation. She doesn’t even suspect that uranium mine will be opened.
“Not far from our village are located Pirmazan and Pkhrout Villages. Pkhrout village is left almost without any residents, while Pirmazan is inhabited with only 3-4 old people. All the people are leaving the village. Every day at least 5 people are buried here. Uranium really matters,” Lernadzor villager said.
