Whether or Not Uranium and Iron Come Together in Hrazdan? That's The Question

Energy and Natural Resources Ministry officially assured Hrazdan Residents, that Hrazdan iron mine doesn't have any uranium deposits. Hrazdan residents are not satisfied with such a brief and non-substantiated reply laid down in the open letter in regard with probable leak of uranium as a result of opencast development of Hrazdan iron mine. Nevertheless, there are real reasons for concerns. The well-known scientific article by G. P. Aloyan’s article entitled “Resource Potential for Radioactive Raw Materials in Armenia and Its Development Perspectives” published in “Mountainous Journal” scientific journal (Issue N 3, 2007) says: 'Prognostic resources of uranium for the 'Lesnoye' Seciton' is assessed 30-40 thousand tons. The prospects for the 'Lesnoye' uranium demonstrations are rather high and are tightly connected with the ore mine industrial developments in the basin of the Marmarik River; Meghradzor gold-bearing, Hanqavan copper-molybdenum and the group of iron mines along the zones of Marmarik deep break.'

It should be noted that both Hanqavan and Meghradzor are territorially attached to Hrazdan and that Hrazdan mine is iron-bearing.  In this regard we will also state Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan's official statement in regard with the uranium program in Armenia, 'First of all, we should realize whether or not we have uranium.' We would like to add, and then to reply we don't have any uranium.
