'There is almost no hunting in Khosrov Reserve – 99%. The reserve area is 24000 ha of open area, where people have access from all sides: 24/7 shift is carried out through special brigades and area inspectors. The special brigade is equipped with guns, they have cars and special clothing.' Rafik Petrosyan, Deputy Director in Preservation of 'Khosrov Forest' State Reserve told in his interview with the journalists.
''If we catch a poacher, we are not entitled to draw up a protocol on the spot, we shall transfer the person to the State Environmental Inspection. They decide the extent of the fine and estimage the damage caused, for example the fine for hunting a Bezoar Goat, Armenian Moufflon or Leopard makes up 3 million AMD, while if they are hunded inside the reserve – it's accounting for 15 million AMD.'
The main problem mentioned by Rafik Petrosyn is the low salary of the rangers.
