“Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment“ NGO
In the end of August, 2016, the NGO “Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment“ (AWHHE) successfully completed the project “Renovation of the Secondary School in Ditak Village“, the implementation of which became possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Japan and the Swiss Sourire vers l'Avenir Foundation. The construction and repair works began in 2010 and took place in several stages.
The school was built in the 1960’s. After the completion of construction works, both the exterior and the interior of the school building have dramatically changed. The schoolyard has significantly improved. Now the pupils will learn in bright, comfortable and heated classrooms. The school building has been provided with a drainage system.
The opening ceremony of Ditak School took place on October 5, 2016 and it coincided with the celebration of the World Teachers' Day. The guests were met with bread and salt. The event was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Armenia H.E. Mr. Eiji Taguchi, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Switzerland to Armenia H.E. Mr. Lukas Gasser, Head of Department of Administrative Control and Community Service Affairs of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development Mr. Ara Rostomyan, the Governor of Ararat province Mr. Rubik Abrahamyan accompanied by representatives from the Regional Administration, School Principals of the neighboring villages, representatives of “Armenian Caritas” NGO and mass media.
In their speeches, the Ambassador of Japan H.E. Mr. Eiji Taguchi and the Ambassador of Switzerland H.E. Mr. Lukas Gasser expressed their satisfaction with the quality and results of the renovation and reconstruction works.
