It’s planned to let out 170 million square meter water from Lake Sevan for 2013. The official website of RA State Committee of Water industry displays a draft decision dated on 19 April 2013, which says the water outlet limit from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes will be set 170.0 million square meters.
It should be mentioned that 170 million square meters is the maximum limit which RA Law “State complex program on the recovery, preservation, reproduction and natural development and usage of Lake Sevan ecosystem for 2013” allows as water outlet.
Reminder: in 2012 320 million square meter water was let out of Lake Sevan, which caused public protests. The Armenian government explained this excess with insufficient amount of water in reservoirs for irrigation purposes.
