Half of Tailing Dumps in Armenia in Syunik Region (Photos)
The Ministry of Emergency States of Armenia informed EcoLur that Armenia has 19 tailing dumps, out of which 9 are located in Syunik Region. Their designed capacities are 3, 3.2 and 310 million cubic meters.
Zangezour copper and molybdenum combine owns Qajaran and Pkhrout tailing dumps located on the right tributary to Voghji River, as well as the tailing dumps on Voghji River near Lernadzor Village and on Artsvanik River. Three of them are suspended, while Artsvanik tailing dumps functions.
Agarak copper and molybdenum combine owns three tailing dumps. One of them is on Darazami River, as well as “Hovit-1” and “Hovit-2”. Their designed capacities are 40.9, 9.08 and 17.9 million cubic meters. Their fullness is 38.6, 0.9, and 3.5 million, and all tailing dumps function.
Another tailing dump, Geghanush, belongs to Deno Gold Mining Company. Its designed capacity is 4.6 million cubic meters, while fullness makes up 2.5 million cubic meters. Another tailing dump is Dastakert tailing dump is located on Ayriget River. Its designed capacity is 3.1 million cubic meters, fullness makes up 1.5 million. They are all suspended.
