RA NAS Presidium Approved Lake Sevan Expert Committee Report for 2014

On 25 March the NAS RA Presidium approved the annual report of Lake Sevan Expert Committee Report for 2014, as the Informational-Analytic Center of NAS RA informs. The report was presented by Committee Chairman Yuri Javadyan, which said,

· “On the proposal of State Committee on Water Industry, the Committee discussed additional water outlet of 120 million cum water from Lake Sevan and proposed to set additional water outlet in the volume of 100 million cum.

·  The proposal on Lake Sevan bottom investigation made by Italian Geographical Studies organization was discussed and taking into consideration that any interference can lead to the circulation of isolated organic matters in the bottom in such unstable state of water ecosystem, a negative expert opinion was issued.

·  The Committee discussed three versions of “Amulsar gold mining project in Vayots Dzor, Armenia” project developed by “Geoteam” CJSC and issued its expert opinion. Proposals were made about absence of external wastes and reclaiming means of surface water drainage of heap leach facility area, which were taken into consideration under the information provided by the customer.

· Together with the representatives of Nature Protection Ministry, Energy and Natural Resources Ministry and Gegharkounik Regional Municipality the Committee studied the technical state of “Argitchi”, “Martuni”, “Vardenik”, “Ani” SHPPs. As of 22 June 2014, proposals were made to the Armenian Government, particularly it was proposed to deprive the owner of “Ani” SHPP of its license.

·  “Sevan Trout Young Fish” working project developed by “Sevan Trout” CJSC was discussed and issued an expert opinion. EcoLur is going to give comments on the report presented by the Committee.
