Expert Committee Committee on Lake Sevan Preservation of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia has issued an opinion to State Committee on Water Industry on water outlets from Lake Sevan in the amount of 280 million square meters of water. Vladimir Movsisyan, Chairman of Lake Sevan Issues Committee by the Armenian President, told about this opinion to Tert.am. 'We consider our proposal to be founded and think we can find a way out of this situation by letting out 280 million square meters. Thus, id so far we have let out 96 million quare meters of water, last year this figure was 0. If this add to this figure 168 million square meters let out last year, we get this 280 million square meters and we think this proposal is grounded and won't have any essential effect on Lake Sevan,' said the Committee Chairman and added by the end of this year the lake level can vary by one centimetre.
When we asked, whether the calculations made by environmentalists were correct as regards with the fact that each water outlet in the amount of 320 million square meter will result in water decrease in 3-5 centimetres (the calculation is a s follows: each 13 million square meters equals to decrease in one centimetre), Vladimir Movsisyan confirmed it.
