UAE-based 'Access Infra Central Asia Limited' interested in constructing large wind farms in Armenia has installed a tower in Gegharkounik Region to measure the wind resources in Armenia. The height of the tower makes up 80 meters, which will put into operation in the near future, as RA Ministry for Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources informs. On 30 March 2017, the government had leased a land plot of 1,250 hectares to the company for conducting research and measurement of the wind power potential in several communities in Gegharkunik and Kotayk Regions. The company intends to construct wind farms the total capacity of the wind farm may reach up to 150 MW.
Spanish 'Axiona Energia Global S.L.' Company is also interested in the construction of a wind farm in Armenia.
