Nature Protection Ministry is assuring that the territory of “Arpa-3” SHHP doesn’t belong to “Jermuk” State Hydrological Reserve. The amended project of the SHPPs mentions it, which has been submitted for environmental expertise. The SHPP will be operated by “Jinj Arpa” LLC.
“Environmental Expertise” SNCO Director Andranik Gevorgyan explained in his interview with EcoLur, “It turned out that the pipe of the SHPP doesn’t run in the territory of the reserve. There were incorrect data in regard with defining coordinates.” The amended project hasn’t been issued any opinion by the Ministry so far.
Despite this denial that SHPP territory doesn’t include a specially protected area, nevertheless, the area of the construction works includes the habitat of a red-listed species European otter (Lutra lutra L.), and the Ministry should turn down this project.
