Foreign small and medium mining companies refuse from developing soil in their countries, as it’s too expensive. These companies arrive in Armenia to develop mine demonstrations in Armenia, as mining conditions are wonderful here, as independent expert Seyran Minasyan and Hakob Sanasaryan, Chairman of Greens Union of Armenia, said at the press conference held at EcoLur Press Club. “In Syunik region only licenses to 35 metallic mines were issues, while this number in Meghri is 18. These are not mines, but mine demonstrations, which have both gold, silver and other expensive elements,” Hakob Sanasaryan said.
“In Canada 22 million USD was allotted to change the habitat of 200 turtles, which would be endangered, if mining starts,” Chairman of Greens Union of Armenia said.
Under the speakers, the small and medium enterprises in US and Canada came to countries like Armenia, where mining boom started. As a result, as the speakers outline the companies make profit and leave, while Armenia is left with polluted water and land areas. “Heavy metals drastically reduce soil productivity and cause different diseases in the organisms of people and animals,” Hakob Sanasaryan closed his speech.
