

EcoLur
New journalistic group ECOpress was opened on Facebook social network. It unites the journalists from Yerevan and regions, who are interested in environmental hot problems. This group was opened by the journalists, who took part in “Ecological Hot Spots of Armenia” training organized by “EcoLur” Press Club from April 11 to April 13.
The participants were presented the state of Armenian mining, SHHPs and forests. Every day press conferences were organized: on April 11 Hrachya Avagyan, Chief Specialist at the Institute of Economics of NAS RA, Dr in Geological Sciences, and Greta Gabrielyan, Chairman of “Environmental Academy” NGO, presented the tasks and hazards of mining, which result due to incorrect mine development in the course of the press conference entitled “Mining: Legend and Reality”. On April 12 UN Climate Change Framework Convention National Focal Point and Head of Environmental Protection Department Aram Gabrielyan and Inessa Gabayan, National Coordinator of Armenian-Norwegian Partnership in the field of SHPP Development, covered the problems of SHHPs at the press conference entitled “SHHPs: speculation through “green energy”” in the press conference. On 13 April Hovik Sayadyan, Head of Foreign Affairs Department of Armenian Agrarian University, Dr. Geographical Sciences, covered the state of Armenian forests at the press conference.
Press conference speakers Hrachya Avagyan presented his book “Ways and Prospects of Mining and Metallurgical Industries in the Republic of Armenia” to “EcoLur” Press Club, while Hovik Sayadyan presented his book “Time and Space Modifications of Forests in Armenia and Management Issues”, as well as “State of the World’s Forests 2005”, “State of the World’s Forests 2007” books.
The participants of the training are as follows: journalist Anahit Grigoryan from Goris Press Club NGO, Syunik Region, Anna Davtyan – Coordinator of “Dilijan” newspaper, Tavush Region, Yeghegnadzor Aarhus Center activist Babken Babajanyan from Vayots Dzor Region, “Agrokamurj” newspaper editor Anna Grigoryan, Vanadzor-based “MIG” TV journalists Marina Andreasyan and Tatevik Ghazaryan from Lori Region, “Zangak” TV journalist Tigran Bashinjaghyan from Gegharkounik Region and “Martuni InfoHouse” Coordinator Yeghiazar Davtyan, “Gyumri-Asparez” newspaper journalist Anahit Simonyan from Shirak Region, as well as Taginfo.am website journalist Emma Karapetyan, Aysor.am website journalist Gohar Stepanyan, Anews.am website journalist Volodya Hovsepyan, ‘Ա1+” journalist Marine Stepanyan, www.armenianow.com website journalist Gayane Mkrtchyan, www.ecolur.org website correspondents Tatevik Grigoryan, Astghik Nersisyan, Diana Sahakyan and Marina Gasparyan from Yerevan.
18 participants of the training course organized by “EcoLur” Informational NGO were awarded certificates. “Ecological Hot Spots of Armenia” training was organized in the frames of “EcoLur” EcoPolitical Press Club program supported by Counterpart Armenia/USAID.
